Affordable Prescription Glasses

I’m sure many of you out there wear or have glasses but wear contacts instead. Either way, you don’t have perfect vision, and you need eyeglasses to help you see better (or in many cases, just see. period). And if you live in the United States like I do, or even Canada or any other countries (although I am not sure what the rate is there), you’ll know just how ridiculously expensive a pair of prescription glasses can be. I once got these cheap looking plastic rimmed glasses that look about $10, but costed me 10 times the money. Needless to say, I was not happy. D:

Zenni Optical is the answer to my, and hopefully your, problem. They sell stylish prescription glasses starting only from $8. Yes, repeat after me, glasses like the ones you see in the photo are only $8. You can’t beat that price, you just can’t. Don’t worry about selection. They have a huge variety of frames and styles for you to pick from, and they also carry special lenses like tinted lens and bifocal lens. How do they provide such great products at such low prices? Zenni Optical sells their own manufactured lens directly to the customers. That means no middlemen and no advertising costs that we need to pay for. Can you say “YAY”? :D

As a matter of fact, they are so awesome that even the popular U.S. talk radio host of the nationally syndicated consumer advocate program, The Clark Howard Show, recommended them. Why pay more when you can get the same product for less?

Best Summer Vacation

One of the best summer vacations I’ve had without going out of the country was my trip to New York. It was a two day and one night trip, and we took the bus from Washington, DC all the way to Chinatown, New York. We spent most of our first day in Chinatown, which to me is almost like revisiting Taipei all over again. They have some awesome hair salons and lots of shops that sell cute trinkets and Asian fashion. We got a haircut at one of the salons, and my hairdresser was absolutely adorable. I’m tempted to go back to New York just so I can get my hair styled by him. :P But in all seriousness, he did do a great job. Of course, there was some shopping and eating done, and for the night, we stayed at the Marriot Marquis by Times Square. Needless to say, the city night lights were beautiful and the hotel was awesome.

The next day was spent at Times square and the surrounding areas, where we shopped some more and took some pictures, and then we headed back to Chinatown in the early afternoon to take the bus back to DC. We wanted to avoid rush hour, which is absolutely crazy in NYC. -_-

Web Hosting Geeks

web-hosting-geeks

For those of you who are on the search for good web hosts, I’m sure you’ve used host review sites like Host Jury or Host Critique. For those of you who don’t, well, I’d say it’s a good habit to build up unless you want to be switching hosts every other month.

Anyways, now you can add a new site to your bookmarks of webhosting review sites. Web Hosting Geek offers many reviews on some of the major hosting companies out there, and what’s even better, they also have representatives from each company actively posting on their site as well. Definitely another good resource to check out if you’re planning to buy a hosting package.

Alzheimer’s Memory Walk

Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is one of the nation’s biggest events that help raise awareness and funds towards the disease and its cure. Right now they are looking for people who are willing to be a part of this cause to help walk the walk. There are more than 600 different communities across the nation holding this event, and the walk will typically be a weekend morning walk about 2-3 miles held sometime in the early fall. Every person that joins counts. They are looking for team leaders and participants, and for every person that joins, we are moving another step forward to finding a cure for this disease.

The reason why I chose to write about this is that my own grandfather has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Before then, I had only read about it in books or seen it in the media. Now that I’ve come to face the fact that my beloved grandpa is slowly losing his memory and capabilities, it really does break my heart. Not only so, when he regains his memory temporarily, he himself becomes frustrated and upset at the state he is in.

Regardless of whether or not you’ve had a loved one with this disease, I think it’s important that we all make a contribution to raising an awareness towards it.

Free Business Cards

I remember back when MOO was doing a promotion with Livejournal where people could get 10 free minicards, designed and shipped at no cost. Unfortunately, that promotion is way over, and now it’s actually quite expensive to order from their site, though I must admit, they have some adorable designs. It’s a shame I misplaced my minicards; I was rather fond of them.

Recently I discovered a similar site to MOO. It’s not as cute, but they offer a lot more services like custom address stamps, stationary, t-shirts, pretty much everything for your office and promotional needs. VistaPrint offers many designs to pick from, so they’re bound to have one to suit your needs. You can also pick the same design to create matching sets of stationary and if you’re not satisfied with their premade designs, you can even order a custom logo or upload your own designs! All in all, there are a LOT of things VistaPrint can do for you, all for a small fee.

Now the best part of this service is that they actually offer basic printing services for free. That’s right, you can order free business cards, free pens, free rubber stamps, and much more, all for just the cost of shipping and handling. For example, you can get 250 personalized business cards all just for $5.95! Of course, your choices of designs and templates are limited, but it’s free, so I wouldn’t be complaining. I’m looking at their free sticky notes service and I’m extremely tempted to buy some now :)

So if you’re looking for a quality print service, be sure to check out VistaPrint!
