I find identity theft is inevitable, it’s something that you cannot wipe away completely. But instead, you should just try to take measures that will help to protect yourself, like always have insurance on your credit card, know where your license is always, etc.

It is inevitable, but I guess some people feel safer when they sign up for services like these, kind of like how they install security alarms in their houses to prevent theft. But yeah, basic precautionary measures should always be taken to be on the safe side.
